In 2018, Druid City Pride introduced the Bambi Kira Spirit of Pride Award. The Bambi Kira Spirit of Pride Award seeks to recognize individuals whose work and dedication in West Alabama exemplify the Spirit of Pride. Our award recipients endeavor to empower and unite LGBTQ+ and allied people through their leadership, service, and support. Award recipients understand the importance of celebrating our past, present, and future while advancing LGBTQ+ rights and visibility.

Nominations for the 2025 Bambi Kira Spirit of Pride Award are now closed.

Nominees will be considered by the Druid City Pride Board of Directors and a winner will be announced at the 2025 Druid City Pride Festival.

Bambi Kira was a staple in the West Alabama community for many years before her untimely passing in 2018. Not only did she light up the stage, but she was often the first LGBTQ+ person many people met in Tuscaloosa. Bambi always went out of her way to ensure everyone felt welcome.
Her impact on our community will forever be missed!
